In the early 1970’s the only successful way of dealing with termites was by spraying chemicals. The toxic termite eradication chemicals were subsequently banned.
Today, thanks mainly to the work of John French, the alternatives are not only safe for us and the environment, they focus on completely eradicating the problem - the whole termite colony.

John French studied Forestry in Aberdeen, Scotland and Forest Entomology in the University of Sydney before acquiring his PHD at the Oregon State University.
In 1972 he joined the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Melbourne, Australia, a world recognised research organisation) in the wood division. Shortly after he started, he was contacted by a nurse, who had a son with Leukaemia. Her house was infested with termites, but her son's medical condition precluded the use of chemical sprays. She needed a natural solution. This was the catalyst that inspired John to look for non-toxic solutions to termite problems and ultimately to the development of the John French Baiting System. Apart from this natural bait trap solution, John also developed Granitgard in 1988. Granitgard was accredited as a building system in 1990 as a method to prevent termites getting into homes.
John further refined his system whilst in America in 1989, after noting that other "natural systems" still failed to trap enough termites to impact the colonies. This problem still remains today with many American systems, but not with the John French Baiting System.
Robert Cameron of SA Pest Free Naturally first met with John in 1996 whilst searching for effective natural termite eradication solutions. Their objectives were the same - offer customers the choice of a natural termite eradication system which was:

John and Robert's relationship still continues today with their shared commitment to ongoing research, testing and system improvements used by SA Pest Free Naturally. Their aims:
